HeyPros is excited to roll out a brand new user role: Contractor Crew — a lightweight role designed specifically for contractor labor teams and helpers.
Contractors Crew Members work under a Lead Contractor and can now be added to dispatched work orders. They can:
✅ View schedules and checklists
✅ Chat with staff and contractors
✅ Get real-time updates via mobile push notifications and magic links
❌ No access to pricing or invoices
Contractor Crew Members must be linked to a Lead Contractor and can only be created by a staff Admin user. Once created, they can be easily attached to jobs by staff or the Lead Contractor.
Head to Users > Add User > Choose “Contractor Crew”
Assign them to a Lead Contractor.
Dispatch a Work Order and add the Crew Member.
Done. They’ll get access to the Work Order and updates automatically!
Crew member users do not have the ability to complete checklist tasks or upload files to a checklist. Their managing contractor must complete these actions for them.
The crew member can upload files to the work order message thread, but the reason they can't upload items to the checklist or mark it as complete is because the checklist is a physical requirement for being able to submit an invoice, something crew members are not allowed to do. The work order can only be closed out by the contractor who the contract belongs to, or a staff user. The crew member doesn't "own" the work order, their managing contractor does, so responsibility for completing the checklist falls to the contractor as they are the responsible party for job completion. The rationale behind this is to ensure that the contractor who actually won the bid from your company and signed the contract is providing oversight into the tasks you have assigned him actually being completed by his team members, rather than them being marked as "done" without him verifying.
Remember, Contractor Crew Members can only be created by a staff Admin user. This role is not for W2 staff.
