The Different Types of Contractors in HeyPros

Written by Cody T

HeyPros now gives you two ways to connect with subcontractors: Private Contractors (those you’ve added yourself) and Public Contractors (available through the HeyPros Marketplace).

This feature helps you grow your network when you need more coverage — while keeping your own subcontractor list private to your company.

🔒 Private Contractors

Private contractors are the subs you personally add under My Contractors.

What to know:

  • They are exclusive to your company — not visible to or shared with anyone else on HeyPros.

  • You can post Private Work Orders directly to them or to your private network.

  • Private work orders can use any custom categories you’ve created for your business.

  • You control pricing, posting type, and who receives the job.

Use private contractors when you already have trusted partners or want to manage work internally.

🌐 Public Contractors

Public contractors are independent subcontractors who maintain their own HeyPros subscriptions and browse open work on the HeyPros Marketplace.

When you create a Public Work Order, it’s visible to:

  • Public subcontractors in your area, and

  • Your private subcontractors (if applicable).

This option is perfect for finding new, qualified subcontractors or filling last-minute work.
